Mrs. Ketura Harris- Washington is elated to embark on her fifth year as a teacher at Midway Elementary. She grew up in a small town in and Texas and moved to Shreveport after getting married. She received degrees in Sociology and Social Work from one of the best Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Before beginning her career in elementary education she was a Truancy Officer with Smith County Juvenile Services and a social worker with Child Protective Services.
Mrs. Washington is married to Kalan Washington and is the mother of three. Mrs Washington is an avid reader and in her downtime enjoys traveling, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Washington’s goal is to foster a classroom where learning is fun, success is attainable, and excellence is the standard.
